Know the roads, pass with confidence

Why practice around your test centre?

Every province tests the same core skills, but every test centre sits on its own mix of streets. Getting to know them ahead of time takes a lot of the surprise out of test day.

Know the local roads

Drive the streets, intersections and speed zones around your centre so nothing on test day feels unfamiliar.

Spot hazards early

Each centre page points out nearby railway crossings, school zones, roundabouts, busy traffic lights and fast roads, with distances.

Practice with purpose

Turn-by-turn directions let your supervising driver focus on your driving, not on finding the way.

Arrive calmer

Knowing where the centre is, what to bring and how check-in works means fewer surprises before you even start the engine.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to use the site?

Using Canada Drive Test Routes is free. Road test fees are set by each province (or, in Alberta, by each registry agent) and are paid to them when you book or check in.

How do I book my road test?

Book through your province's testing body. Each province page explains how booking works there and links to the official booking page.

Can I drive the practice route on a learner's licence?

Yes, as long as you follow your learner's licence rules. Every province requires a qualified supervising driver with learners, and some also limit night driving or passengers. Your province page lists the rules.

What do I need to bring to my road test?

It depends on your province, but you always need your own safe, insured and registered vehicle, your licence or permit, and your vehicle documents. Our road test day checklist covers each province.

How up to date is the information?

Each centre page shows the date its details were last checked and lists the official sources used. Offices move and rules change, so always confirm with your appointment confirmation.
