Local tips
Kelowna Driver Licensing is at 1720 Springfield Road. It's open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the doors open at 9:00 a.m., and road tests are by appointment. Traffic lights start almost at the door: map data shows the nearest about 20 m away and 27 sets within a kilometre. Approach each intersection ready to stop, and when turning left on a green, wait for a safe gap in oncoming traffic. Harvey Avenue (BC 97), about 560 m away, has three lanes and a 60 km/h limit, so if your drive takes you there, pick your lane early and shoulder-check before moving over. Map data also shows roundabouts about 740 and 935 m from the office; slow down, yield to vehicles already circling and signal as you exit. There are 33 marked crosswalks nearby, so keep scanning the corners for pedestrians, and there's a bridge on Burtch Road about 585 m away. Our 12.1 km practice route leaves by Dayton Street and Springfield Road, then follows Gordon Drive, K.L.O. Road and Benvoulin Road, goes through a roundabout onto Guisachan Road, and comes back by Pandosy Street, Richter Street and Cadder Avenue. Practice picking the right lane well before each turn.
Common questions
Kelowna road test FAQ
What are the hours at Kelowna?
ICBC lists: Mon–Tue 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wed 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Thu–Sat 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.
How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
