The Moncton driver examination office is at 770 Main Street, in the Place L'Assomption building downtown. It's open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and road tests are by appointment. Map data shows parking lots about 75 metres away and a bus stop at Main and Alma streets right outside. This is the busiest test area in the province. There are 22 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre, the nearest only about 115 metres away, and map data shows about 94 pedestrian crossings within 800 metres, so watch for pedestrians at every corner. Railway level crossings are about 270 to 450 metres away, and there's a roundabout about 340 metres away. Our 16.9 km practice route follows Main Street and Lutz Street to Mountain Road (Route 126). It works through Leslie Street, Connaught Avenue, Mill Road and Pleasant Street, then Lewisville Road (Route 134) and St. George Street, and High Street and Morton Avenue. Practice choosing your lane early, checking your blind spot, and handling stale green lights calmly.
Common questions
Moncton road test FAQ
What are the hours at Moncton?
Service New Brunswick lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Offices close on statutory holidays, so check snb.ca before you go.
How do I book a road test?
Book online through Service New Brunswick's Driver Examination Online Booking Service (linked from gnb.ca's Driver licence testing page), or call TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The road test fee is $25 plus HST for each attempt, and you can take the test in English or French.
What do I need to bring?
A licensed driver with at least three years of experience and a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) licence to come with you, your valid learner's permit, a signed and valid vehicle registration, proof of valid insurance for the vehicle, your driving school certificate if you have one, and proof of payment for the test. Bring paper copies; only the proof of insurance can be digital. If anything is missing, you'll be turned away.
How long do I need my learner's licence first, and what if I fail?
New drivers take this road test to move from Class 7 Level 1 (learner) to Level 2. You must have held Level 1 for at least one year, or eight months if you completed a recognized driver education course (green certificate required). The wait is waived if you've been fully licensed before. If you don't pass, you book and pay for another attempt.
