Local tips

The Saskatoon East Driver Exam Office is at 4045 Taylor Street East, on the east side of the city. SGI says this office does road tests only, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; it doesn't do written tests, so go to Saskatoon Central for those. Map data shows a parking area about 85 metres from the building. Taylor Street and McKercher Drive both have traffic lights about 250 metres away, and there are more at Boychuk Drive and Briarwood Road a little under a kilometre east. Four schools sit about 850 to 880 metres away, including Lakeridge, Bishop Pocock, St. Bernard and Wildwood, so school zones are common on test routes. Our 16.2 km practice route uses Heritage Way, Taylor Street, McKercher Drive and 8th Street East before winding through the Briarwood neighbourhood on Briargate, Briarwood and Briarvale roads.

Common questions

Saskatoon East road test FAQ

What are the hours at Saskatoon East?

SGI lists: Road tests Mon–Fri 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. No written tests at this location. Check sgi.sk.ca/examoffice before you go.

How do I book a road test?

Book a Class 5 road test online with MySGI, through a motor licence issuer, or by calling 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744). If you give your cellphone number, SGI texts you reminders 24 hours and one hour before, and you can check in by text when you arrive.

What do I need for the Class 5 road test?

You must have held your Class 7 learner's licence for at least nine months, bring photo ID, and supply a vehicle in good working order (the examiner inspects it first). Bring your Driver Education Certificate if your training isn't on your SGI file. Your supervising driver waits in the waiting room during the test.

What if I fail?

SGI says you must wait two weeks before taking another Class 5 road test, and you pay the test fee again. If you miss an appointment without cancelling, you pay for the rescheduled one.
