Local tips
The Bison Drive Service Centre is at 15 Barnes Street, just off Bison Drive in south Winnipeg near the University of Manitoba. MPI lists office hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, and Saturday road test appointments are offered in Winnipeg. Map data shows a customer lot right beside the building. You'll be in traffic straight away: there are lights at Barnes and Bison Drive and again at Markham Road within about 100 metres, and Bison Drive itself widens to as many as four lanes with 60 and 70 km/h limits. Railway tracks cross the area about half a kilometre away, and Chancellor Elementary School is about 320 metres from the centre. Our 19.2 km practice route uses Pembina Highway, Waverley Street and University Crescent, then winds through the residential streets of Fort Richmond, so practice lane changes on the big roads and careful stops on the quiet ones.
