Local tips

Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is the licensing agent in Osoyoos, at 8308 Main St. It opens Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with road tests by appointment. Main Street here is part of CN 3, posted at 50 km/h, and map data puts both the road and a set of traffic lights just a few metres from the office, so your test will likely begin at a signal. Check the light, the crosswalk and oncoming traffic before you move. With 65 marked crosswalks and 66 stop signs in the surrounding streets, expect to stop often and look for pedestrians. A school about 500 m away means watching for students and school zones on weekdays, and a bridge on Main Street is about 555 m out. Our 8.6 km practice route uses Main Street, 89th Street, 74th Avenue, 97th Street (BC 97), 62nd Avenue and Kingfisher Drive, and later takes the 3 West ramp toward Hope before Meadowlark Drive. On the ramp, match your speed to traffic and signal clearly.

Common questions

Osoyoos road test FAQ

What are the hours at Osoyoos?

ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Sat 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
