Local tips
Two railway level crossings sit within about 175 m and 180 m of Hub International Insurance Brokers (HCW), the licensing agent at 7072 Pioneer Avenue in Agassiz, so plan for them from your very first minute behind the wheel. Slow down as you approach, look both ways, and never stop on the tracks while waiting for traffic ahead. The office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; road tests are by appointment. Agassiz Elementary Secondary School is about 170 m away, so watch for students and school zones on weekdays. ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. Cheam Avenue, a four-lane stretch of BC 9, passes about 50 m from the office, and the Lougheed Highway (BC 7) is about 175 m away. Our 9.3 km practice route heads east on Pioneer Avenue to Park Street and Tuyttens Road, then follows the Agassiz-Rosedale Highway (BC 9) to Scott Road and McCartney Road. On the highway sections, practice keeping a safe following distance and checking your blind spot before turning.
Common questions
Agassiz road test FAQ
What are the hours at Agassiz?
ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Sat 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.
How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
