Local tips
The Timmins DriveTest centre is in Unit 160 of the Porcupine Mall at 4900 Highway 101 East, out in the Porcupine and South Porcupine area east of downtown Timmins, close to Northern College. Map data shows a parking lot right beside the DriveTest unit, so parking should be straightforward. DriveTest lists it as a full-time centre open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but listings disagree about Thursday hours, so check your booking before you go. Highway 101 is the main road here, with traffic signals right at the mall and another signalized intersection at Ferguson Road and Bristol Road. Further east, Highway 101 becomes Harold Avenue, a four-lane road with lights at Main Street in South Porcupine. Practice turning on and off a highway with confidence, and watch for student traffic around Northern College. Commercial Class A tests are held off-site at 255 Crawford Street in South Porcupine, according to DriveTest's offsite testing page. Kirkland Lake, Kapuskasing and New Liskeard are other northern centres in this directory.
