Local tips
Kirkland Lake's DriveTest office is in the Kirkland Lake Shopping Centre at 150 Government Road West (shown as Kirkland Lake Mall on the map). It is open just one day a week: DriveTest's centre list shows Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m., so appointments here are limited and it pays to book early and confirm the date. The mall fronts onto Government Road West, which is Highway 66 and the main route through town, with surface parking lots right beside the building. There are few traffic lights nearby; the closest set in map data is at Government Road East and Tweedsmuir Road, about 1.2 km away. Map data also shows rail level crossings on Goodfish Road and Tweedsmuir Road, so practice slowing and looking both ways at crossings. If Friday does not work for you, New Liskeard is the nearest other DriveTest centre, and Timmins is open more days of the week.
