Local tips

The Bouctouche driver examination office is at 193 Irving Boulevard and is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with road tests by appointment. There are no traffic lights in the area, so most of what you'll deal with is stop signs, uncontrolled corners and a fast highway nearby. Route 11 runs about 570 metres away at 100 km/h, and its ramps are about 520 metres from the office. Our 36.6 km practice route starts along Irving Boulevard (Route 515) and loops through Rue du Parc, Avenue Goguen and Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste. It then joins Route 11 to exit 36 and comes back on Route 134 and the rural Saint-Maurice Road, Chemin Sainte-Anne-Gabriel and Chemin Boisjoli. It finishes through Rue McLaughlin, Avenue Monseigneur-Leblanc, Avenue Richard and Rue Évangéline. Practice merging onto Route 11 at highway speed, then slowing down properly for town streets. École Clément-Cormier is about 1.5 kilometres away.

Common questions

Bouctouche road test FAQ

What are the hours at Bouctouche?

Service New Brunswick lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Offices close on statutory holidays, so check snb.ca before you go.

How do I book a road test?

Book online through Service New Brunswick's Driver Examination Online Booking Service (linked from gnb.ca's Driver licence testing page), or call TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The road test fee is $25 plus HST for each attempt, and you can take the test in English or French.

What do I need to bring?

A licensed driver with at least three years of experience and a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) licence to come with you, your valid learner's permit, a signed and valid vehicle registration, proof of valid insurance for the vehicle, your driving school certificate if you have one, and proof of payment for the test. Bring paper copies; only the proof of insurance can be digital. If anything is missing, you'll be turned away.

How long do I need my learner's licence first, and what if I fail?

New drivers take this road test to move from Class 7 Level 1 (learner) to Level 2. You must have held Level 1 for at least one year, or eight months if you completed a recognized driver education course (green certificate required). The wait is waived if you've been fully licensed before. If you don't pass, you book and pay for another attempt.
