Local tips
The Terrace Service BC Centre is at unit 101, 3220 Eby Street, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Road tests are by appointment. The City of Terrace Fire Department is about 175 m from the office and Ksyen Regional Hospital about 690 m away, so be ready to signal, pull to the right and stop for emergency vehicles. The Yellowhead Highway passes about 260 m away, and map data shows a bridge on it about 315 m from the office. The nearest of 17 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre is about 270 m away. Clarence Michael school is about 570 m away and ET Kenney about 620 m. ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. Railway level crossings lie about 965 m away; slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Our 10.1 km practice route takes Park Avenue and Eby Street to the Yellowhead Highway and Kalum Lake Road (BC 113), then returns by Halliwell Avenue, Sparks Street and Davis Avenue. Practice steady speed control on the highway.
Common questions
Terrace road test FAQ
What are the hours at Terrace?
ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.
How do I book a road test?
Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.
What do I need to bring?
Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.
When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?
New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
