Local tips

Hub International Insurance Brokers (HCW) is the ICBC licensing agent in Sicamous, at unit 13, 1133 Eagle Pass Way. It's open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and road tests are by appointment. Highway 97A runs about 40 m from the office and is posted at 60 km/h, so take your time finding a safe gap before joining it. Map data shows two roundabouts nearby, about 470 and 570 m away: slow down, yield to traffic already in them and signal before you exit. Parkview Elementary School is about 440 m away and Eagle River Secondary School about 495 m away. ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail, so watch your speed on weekdays. There's also a railway level crossing about 800 m away; slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Our 9.6 km practice route starts on Parksville Street, works through Larch Avenue and Riverside Avenue, takes the second exit at Main Street, joins the Trans-Canada Highway via Finlayson Street, then returns along Eagle Pass Way and the Vernon-Sicamous Highway (BC 97A). Practice judging gaps.

Common questions

Sicamous road test FAQ

What are the hours at Sicamous?

ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
