Local tips

The Maple Ridge Claims Centre at 22811 Dewdney Trunk Road is a road-test-only location, open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and tests are by appointment. Dewdney Trunk Road, four lanes wide, passes about 35 m from the building, and map data shows 54 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre, the nearest about 75 m away. Maple Ridge Fire Hall No. 1 is about 315 m away, so be ready to signal and pull over for a fire truck. St Patrick's School is about 500 m out and Eric Langton Elementary School about 610 m, so watch for students and school zones on weekdays; ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. There are also 69 marked crosswalks and 156 stop signs nearby. Our 20.9 km practice route goes from Purdey Avenue and 228 Street to Abernethy Way and 203 Street, later joins the Lougheed Highway, takes the Haney Bypass ramp and uses a roundabout onto Kanaka Way. At the roundabout, yield to traffic already in it and take the first exit with a clear signal.

Common questions

Maple Ridge road test FAQ

What are the hours at Maple Ridge?

ICBC lists: Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
