Local tips

This road-test-only office, Prince George Driver Licensing, sits at 4001 15th Ave. It's open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Wednesdays, when it opens at 9:00 a.m., and road tests are by appointment. You start right on 15th Avenue, a four-lane road, so pick your lane early and check your mirrors and blind spot before every lane change. Map data counts 23 sets of traffic lights within a kilometre, the nearest about 155 m away, so expect plenty of stopping and starting and be ready for lights that have been green a while. Schools sit about 535 m and 730 m from the office; on weekdays, watch for students and school zones, because ICBC's examiners say speeding through school and playground zones is a common reason people fail. Our 10.9 km practice route heads west on 15th Avenue, then uses South Ospika Boulevard, Campbell Avenue, Massey Drive, Patricia Boulevard and 10th Avenue before BC 97 South (Cariboo Highway) brings you back. Practice smooth left turns at lights and keeping pace with highway traffic.

Common questions

15th Ave road test FAQ

What are the hours at 15th Ave?

ICBC lists: Mon–Tue 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Wed 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Thu–Fri 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Check icbc.com before you go, especially around holidays.

How do I book a road test?

Book online at icbc.com (Book a road test), or call 604-982-2250 in Metro Vancouver, 250-978-8300 in Victoria, or 1-800-950-1498 toll-free; in other areas you can also contact the nearest driver licensing office. You pay the road test fee when you arrive. Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or you'll be charged a $25 fee.

What do I need to bring?

Arrive 15 minutes early with the same ID you used for your learner's licence (one primary and one secondary piece), your learner's licence, payment for the road test fee, and a safe, reliable, insured vehicle with a Canadian licence plate and its registration papers. GPS and navigation must be off, and recording devices aren't allowed during the test.

When can I take the road test, and is there a second test?

New drivers take the Class 7 road test to move from the learner (L) licence to the novice (N) licence; the earliest date you can take it is printed on your licence. Since October 19, 2026, drivers with a novice licence and a clean record no longer take a second road test: a Driving Record Assessment replaces it.
