Local tips
Preeceville's driver exams are held in the court room at the Town Office, 239 Highway Avenue East. SGI says hours vary and an appointment is required for every service. The office is right on Highway Avenue East, which is Highway 49, and Highway 47 also runs close by, so expect highway traffic and farm trucks. Map data shows two schools between about 700 and 750 metres away, including Preeceville School. There are no traffic lights in town. Our 8.1 km practice route leaves on 7th Street Northeast and 2nd Avenue Northeast and works through the town's grid on the numbered Northeast and Northwest streets and avenues before returning along Highway Avenue East. Practice turning onto and off the highway safely, checking mirrors before slowing down, and keeping a steady speed on the residential streets.
Common questions
Preeceville road test FAQ
What are the hours at Preeceville?
SGI lists: Office hours vary. Appointment required for all services. Check sgi.sk.ca/examoffice before you go.
How do I book a road test?
Book a Class 5 road test online with MySGI, through a motor licence issuer, or by calling 1-844-TLK-2SGI (1-844-855-2744). If you give your cellphone number, SGI texts you reminders 24 hours and one hour before, and you can check in by text when you arrive.
What do I need for the Class 5 road test?
You must have held your Class 7 learner's licence for at least nine months, bring photo ID, and supply a vehicle in good working order (the examiner inspects it first). Bring your Driver Education Certificate if your training isn't on your SGI file. Your supervising driver waits in the waiting room during the test.
What if I fail?
SGI says you must wait two weeks before taking another Class 5 road test, and you pay the test fee again. If you miss an appointment without cancelling, you pay for the rescheduled one.
