Local tips
The Plaster Rock driver examination office is at 139 Main Street, open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with road tests by appointment. Main Street is part of Route 109, posted at 70 km/h near the office, so turning on and off it takes care: signal early and wait for a safe gap. Route 108 is about 345 metres away at 60 km/h, and its bridge about 585 metres away. The Tobique Valley Community Health Centre is about 350 metres from the office, so be ready to pull over for an ambulance. There's a railway level crossing about 1.2 kilometres away. Our 48.5 km practice route heads out on Route 395, Anfield Road and Sisson Ridge Road, comes back along Route 108 to Main Street, and then works through the village on Jarvis Street, Girouard Street, Centennial Street, Hemingway Avenue, Hillcrest Street, Fraser Avenue and Post Street. Practice holding steady speeds on the rural roads and slowing smoothly for the village.
Common questions
Plaster Rock road test FAQ
What are the hours at Plaster Rock?
Service New Brunswick lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Offices close on statutory holidays, so check snb.ca before you go.
How do I book a road test?
Book online through Service New Brunswick's Driver Examination Online Booking Service (linked from gnb.ca's Driver licence testing page), or call TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The road test fee is $25 plus HST for each attempt, and you can take the test in English or French.
What do I need to bring?
A licensed driver with at least three years of experience and a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) licence to come with you, your valid learner's permit, a signed and valid vehicle registration, proof of valid insurance for the vehicle, your driving school certificate if you have one, and proof of payment for the test. Bring paper copies; only the proof of insurance can be digital. If anything is missing, you'll be turned away.
How long do I need my learner's licence first, and what if I fail?
New drivers take this road test to move from Class 7 Level 1 (learner) to Level 2. You must have held Level 1 for at least one year, or eight months if you completed a recognized driver education course (green certificate required). The wait is waived if you've been fully licensed before. If you don't pass, you book and pay for another attempt.
