Local tips

The Kedgwick driver examination office is at 196 Rue Notre-Dame, open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with road tests by appointment. Map data shows a parking lot about 95 metres away. Rue Notre-Dame is Route 17, the main highway through the village. It's posted at 50 km/h in town and rises to 70 km/h at the edge of the village, so watch the signs and adjust your speed as you go. There's a bridge on Rue Saint-Jean about 190 metres away, and a school about 800 metres away. There are no traffic lights in the area. Our 34.9 km practice route follows Route 17 and Route 265 out of the village, loops through Rang 9 & 10, Rue Coulombe and Rue des Montagnes (Route 260), and comes back on Rue Saint-Camille. It then works through the village streets around Rue Jeanne d'Arc, Rue Jeanne-Mance, Rue Deschênes, Rue Fraser, Rue de l'École and Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Practice steady rural speeds and full stops at the village intersections.

Common questions

Kedgwick road test FAQ

What are the hours at Kedgwick?

Service New Brunswick lists: Mon–Fri 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Road tests by appointment. Offices close on statutory holidays, so check snb.ca before you go.

How do I book a road test?

Book online through Service New Brunswick's Driver Examination Online Booking Service (linked from gnb.ca's Driver licence testing page), or call TeleServices at 1-888-762-8600 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). The road test fee is $25 plus HST for each attempt, and you can take the test in English or French.

What do I need to bring?

A licensed driver with at least three years of experience and a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) licence to come with you, your valid learner's permit, a signed and valid vehicle registration, proof of valid insurance for the vehicle, your driving school certificate if you have one, and proof of payment for the test. Bring paper copies; only the proof of insurance can be digital. If anything is missing, you'll be turned away.

How long do I need my learner's licence first, and what if I fail?

New drivers take this road test to move from Class 7 Level 1 (learner) to Level 2. You must have held Level 1 for at least one year, or eight months if you completed a recognized driver education course (green certificate required). The wait is waived if you've been fully licensed before. If you don't pass, you book and pay for another attempt.
