Mundare Registries, at 5008 50 St, sits very close to the railway: map data shows level crossings about 85 and 100 metres away, plus another about 375 metres away. Slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Mundare Fire & Rescue is about 125 metres from the registry, and a hospital is about 855 metres away, so be ready to pull over for emergency vehicles. 49 Avenue, part of Highway 15, is about 150 metres away at 50 km/h, but a section of Highway 15 about 585 metres away is posted at 100 km/h. A school is about 430 metres away, so watch for students on weekdays. Hours vary, so call 780-764-2238 to confirm them; road tests are by appointment. Our 70.8 km practice route follows 49 Avenue and Sawchuk Street out to the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16), then uses Range Road 175, Township Road 534 and Whitetail Road. Practice signalling well ahead and slowing early when you turn off the Yellowhead onto the range roads.

Common questions

Mundare Registries road test FAQ

What are the hours at Mundare Registries?

Alberta doesn't publish hours for each registry, and they vary. Call Mundare Registries at 780-764-2238 to confirm before you go. Road tests are by appointment.

How do I book a road test?

Book online through Mundare Registries's road test booking page (the "Official booking" button on this page, also listed on alberta.ca), or in person at the registry. You'll need your 9-digit MVID number, printed near the barcode on your licence, and any outstanding Government of Alberta fines must be paid first. Registry agents set their own road test fees, up to the maximum in the province's Registry Agent Product Catalogue, so confirm the fee when you book.

What do I need for the road test?

A vehicle that meets all legal and safety requirements, plus the documents listed on the registry's road test information sheet and in your confirmation letter. The information sheet also covers eligibility, fees, and the registry's cancellation and no-show policies.

How long do I need my learner's licence first, and how is the test marked?

You must have held a Class 7 learner's licence for at least one year and be at least 16 (with a parent's or guardian's written consent if you're under 18). You fail the Class 5 road test with more than 75 points, or automatically if you endanger someone, drive unsafely or break traffic laws. After you pass the road test and a vision test, you get a probationary Class 5-GDL licence, which you hold for at least two years.

Is a practice route available for Mundare Registries?

Yes. This page has a 70.8 km Class 5 practice test route that starts and ends at the centre, with a map and turn-by-turn directions.
