Local tips
Railway tracks run very close to Millet Registries, at 5004 51 Ave: map data shows level crossings about 150 metres away and another about 695 metres away. Slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks, even if traffic backs up ahead. 50 Street, which carries Highway 2A at 50 km/h, passes only about 20 metres from the registry. There are no traffic lights within a kilometre, so you will rely on signs and your own judgement at intersections. Griffiths-Scott School is about 465 metres away; watch for students on weekdays. Millet Fire Department is about 640 metres away, so be prepared to pull over if a fire truck approaches. Hours vary, so call 780-387-4601 to confirm, and remember that road tests are by appointment. Our 69.4 km practice route follows 50 Street (Highway 2A) out of town, then runs along Township Road 490, Highway 814, Township Road 475, Range Road 244 and Highway 616. It is a long rural loop, so practice keeping a steady speed and slowing early before each turn.
Common questions
Millet Registries road test FAQ
What are the hours at Millet Registries?
Alberta doesn't publish hours for each registry, and they vary. Call Millet Registries at 780-387-4601 to confirm before you go. Road tests are by appointment.
How do I book a road test?
Book online through Millet Registries's road test booking page (the "Official booking" button on this page, also listed on alberta.ca), or in person at the registry. You'll need your 9-digit MVID number, printed near the barcode on your licence, and any outstanding Government of Alberta fines must be paid first. Registry agents set their own road test fees, up to the maximum in the province's Registry Agent Product Catalogue, so confirm the fee when you book.
What do I need for the road test?
A vehicle that meets all legal and safety requirements, plus the documents listed on the registry's road test information sheet and in your confirmation letter. The information sheet also covers eligibility, fees, and the registry's cancellation and no-show policies.
How long do I need my learner's licence first, and how is the test marked?
You must have held a Class 7 learner's licence for at least one year and be at least 16 (with a parent's or guardian's written consent if you're under 18). You fail the Class 5 road test with more than 75 points, or automatically if you endanger someone, drive unsafely or break traffic laws. After you pass the road test and a vision test, you get a probationary Class 5-GDL licence, which you hold for at least two years.
Is a practice route available for Millet Registries?
Yes. This page has a 69.4 km Class 5 practice test route that starts and ends at the centre, with a map and turn-by-turn directions.
