Local tips

Hanna Registries is at 207a 2 Avenue West. Call 403-854-3321 before your visit to check hours, since they vary, and plan on booking your road test by appointment. The streets nearby are quiet in the map data, with no traffic lights, just one stop sign and one marked crosswalk listed, but there are railway level crossings about 865 m, 960 m and 965 m away. At each one, slow down, look both ways and never stop on the tracks. Hanna Hospital is about 830 m away, so be ready to pull over for an ambulance. A school sits about 710 m away and J.C. Charyk School about 770 m away; watch for students on weekdays. Map data also shows a bridge on Pioneer Trail South about 885 m away. Our 38.7 km practice route uses 3rd Street West, 6th Avenue West and Palliser Trail to reach Highway 9, then Veterans Memorial Highway, Township Road 312 and Range Road 144 before returning along 2nd Avenue East. Practice checking your mirrors before slowing for the turns off the highways.

Common questions

Hanna Registries road test FAQ

What are the hours at Hanna Registries?

Alberta doesn't publish hours for each registry, and they vary. Call Hanna Registries at 403-854-3321 to confirm before you go. Road tests are by appointment.

How do I book a road test?

Book online through Hanna Registries's road test booking page (the "Official booking" button on this page, also listed on alberta.ca), or in person at the registry. You'll need your 9-digit MVID number, printed near the barcode on your licence, and any outstanding Government of Alberta fines must be paid first. Registry agents set their own road test fees, up to the maximum in the province's Registry Agent Product Catalogue, so confirm the fee when you book.

What do I need for the road test?

A vehicle that meets all legal and safety requirements, plus the documents listed on the registry's road test information sheet and in your confirmation letter. The information sheet also covers eligibility, fees, and the registry's cancellation and no-show policies.

How long do I need my learner's licence first, and how is the test marked?

You must have held a Class 7 learner's licence for at least one year and be at least 16 (with a parent's or guardian's written consent if you're under 18). You fail the Class 5 road test with more than 75 points, or automatically if you endanger someone, drive unsafely or break traffic laws. After you pass the road test and a vision test, you get a probationary Class 5-GDL licence, which you hold for at least two years.

Is a practice route available for Hanna Registries?

Yes. This page has a 38.7 km Class 5 practice test route that starts and ends at the centre, with a map and turn-by-turn directions.
